Martin Sylvestre BAPTISTE (Paris 1791 - 1859) "Les marchands de vins" (the wine merchants) Original lithograph signed in the plate on the bottom left "S.Baptiste", printed and published by Engelmann lithographic factories within a series from title "Cahier de Types" in 1828. Beautiful specimen with full margins with a slight drop of color on the title but overall in excellent general condition, enhanced by the refined editorial coloring with watercolor with shellac raises. Genre scene painter and lithographer, Sylvestre Baptiste was a pupil of Vincent and Guerin, he attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and then exhibited at the Painting Exhibition from 1822 to 1840.
